Food is not always my primary consideration of these places. Mostly I’m looking for refuge from the modern world, a hideaway from the fashionable nonces with laptops and phones, but then again what type of Nathan Barley twat am I with my digital camera, my notebook and dictaphone?
The fish and chips at the Golden Fish Bar are excellent. The lady who serves it is no spring chicken alas and managed to drop a whole plate of food on a customer when I was there, so be warned.
A drawing of the Golden Fish Bar makes up the cover of ‘Table for One’.
