Some places, like the New Piccadilly, Pellici’s and Rodi’s know they are special, others haven’t got a clue and would be glad to have the money to get some new fixtures and fittings. Notarianni’s exists somewhere in between. “It’s a bit run down and tatty. I suppose we should do it up, but people say they like it this way.” the nice lady tells me. Notarianni’s used to be a small chain, I’ve heard rumour of one other surviving in Blackpool, can anybody confirm? It certainly wouldn’t have the same owners anymore. The show piece here is the sign on the front, an absolutely jaw dropping piece of design from a different age. I'm going to write a whole EP about Eastbourne soon.
