Back to the Stereo Morphonium

"i met darren in 1995 , after seeing an early version of Hefner play at the Bull+Gate in London. i played bass for them briefly in a trio that included Ant on bongos. just before i moved away to Vancouver Canada , i hooked him up with Booglewonderland Records , who'd released my band MELT's single. they released Hefner's first 2 singles. when Hefner came over to do east coast US dates i sold him his first synth which was a Moog Rogue.
around 2000 or 2001 i moved back to London for a short stint. Darren was just finishing the "Dead Media" cd and was really into synths. i'd brought over my synth and my secret pigeon box so we decided to book a few gigs and then we'd have 2 weeks to write a set of music. we used a crappy drum machine and 4 analog synths [JX3P , Juno106 , Moog Rogue , Future Retro] and wrote and recorded 6 songs. the gigs went well and we were asked to do a Peel Session , but i moved back to NYC before that could happen due to London having very crap weather [that year ?].
i remixed the 6 songs in NYC , then in 2004 we started work on 2 brand new songs. the EP includes the 2 new songs plus 3 older songs.
we tour in separate busses -- darren's looking like that caravan thingy and mine looking like a 70's van with a wizard mural on the side and a waterbed inside.
Darren prefers Beach Boys & Billy Joel , while i prefer Beatles & Elton John.
Darren is currently solo with a piano , gtr or yukele , while i sing and play synth + gtr for my NYC band Mutronium."  -  Joël Neumatic
