Good Fruit

If it doesn't mean a thing, then don't say anything.
But it means something, more then we can say.
But you kissed me so, even though,
Your heart said no, so when will you phone?
Lost feelings of love come flooding back,
Every time you cry, you give me little heart attacks.
Love seems strongest when its new,
But that's something I can't prove,
I can't prove that I love you.
Oh I need you here, so make your reasons clear,
Is it me you fear? Oh I fear I'm losing you.
It's time to choose, you know I can't stand losing.
It's my mind your bruising, as well as my heart.
You were just there, in the right place,
You smoothed out the wrinkles on my face.
You got to sort the good fruit from the bad fruit,
Darling, I'm not supposed to feel this,
Not when your leaving.
You, oh you should stick around,
To hear me hit the ground,
Its such a pretty sound.
If you felt it weeks ago,
Then where did those feelings go?
Oh surely you must know,
Cause I'm not supposed to feel this,
Not when you're leaving

Jubilee

Put on your necklace, put on your dress.
Pull on those tights on the legs that I like.
Polish your shoes, gloss up those lips.
Step to the beat and hang on my hips.
This jubilee won't you dance the night with me?
Because I love you, don't go.
Because I love you, don't go.
I need you, to hold.
I love you, don't go.
Sweep up the debris, the withered balloons.
The poppers the streamers that we let off too soon.
I saw your eyes roll, I heard you sigh.
I know the signs when you want to cry.
This jubilee won't you dance the night with me?
Because I love you, don't go.
Because I love you, don't go.
I need you, to hold.
I love you, don't go.
When I'm away from home, you crackle on the telephone.
You coo and you purr on the line, you make me quiver inside.
And when I touch down at Heathrow, I get in my car and I go.
Right through to Hammersmith town,
Battersea Bridge and then down,
Nine Elms and Kennington Lane,
The Old Kent Road, The Blackwell Tunnel approach,
And then North to your home.

Blackhorse Road

Other Information

Our most successful song from our most successful album, everything just seemed to come together at the right time and for once even the radio stations decided to play it.

This song like quite a few on the album features vocals from Amelia Fletcher. Amelia has a long history in British indie scene as any boy of a certain age will tell you, her bands include. Talujah Gosh, Heavenly, Marine Research and Tender Trap. She also sang with the Wedding Present. She's like the indie Kirsty Macol of the alternative scene and every band worth their salt has to get her to sing on one of their songs at some point.

The song is a love song for my sweetheart. I was so happy to be through my emotional upheavals and getting the band through a turbulent year and I think it shows in this song. Despite this song being our most well known we were absolutely terrible at playing it live and often didn't. Poor Jack had to do the entire brass section on his own on the melodica.

The b-sides are more home recordings from the 8-track including our first instrumental, Blackhorse Road. Once again an indication of what was to come on Dead Media.
